When IOTA Community Schools separated from a national entity, they faced a significant challenge. Previously, key HR operations—such as employee records, payroll, and benefits administration—were managed by the national entity.
With the split, IOTA had to quickly establish its own HR infrastructure to ensure smooth operations moving forward. The organization urgently needed to select and implement a new HR Information System (HRIS), an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and a payroll system to manage their employee records, hiring process, and compensation accurately. Without these critical systems in place, IOTA faced the risk of operational disruptions, delayed hiring, and errors in payroll.
Staff members were already stretched thin managing day-to-day operations, making it difficult to focus on long-term system solutions. Without external expertise, the risk of prolonged inefficiencies and compliance gaps would have significantly impacted the organization’s ability to function effectively.

With other key systems to put in place with a limited amount of time, IOTA turned to Edpact for expertise in navigating this complex HR technology transition. Edpact began by conducting a thorough assessment of IOTA’s specific needs and goals. With their deep understanding of both the educational sector and HR technology, Edpact recommended and helped IOTA select the most suitable HRIS and ATS to streamline operations.
